Google’s New Browser: Chrome
I just downloaded the latest version of Google’s brand new internet browser, Chrome. Chrome was announced yesterday, to be released today in this blog post. So far, I am not so sure what I think of it. I have to do a bit more reading and playing around. Hopefully I’ll write a quick review post later on this week. Anyways, you can download it here.
Here’s a brief description via Wikipedia:
Google Chrome is an open source web browser developed by Google. It builds on components from other open source software, including WebKit and Mozilla, and is intended to provide greater stability, speed and security than existing browsers, while presenting a simple and efficient user interface. The name is derived from the graphical user interface frame, or “chrome”, of web browsers.
A beta version for Microsoft Windows was released on September 2, 2008 in 43 languages. Mac OS X and Linux versions are under development and will follow the Windows version.

If you are a Chrome user, please leave any comments or suggestions you have to help me learn a bit more about this browser.

i’m willing to try it out just to see if it works more efficiently than FireFox… if it’s faster than Firefox, has tabs and isn’t IE, then it should be perfect
It’s a nice basic browser… not as customizable or powerful as Firefox, but lighter, quicker, and more efficient. It gets you to point A to point B without much clutter. I’d switch to it if I didn’t use Firefox’s add-ons so regularly.
I’ve used it all day today, and it really is a great browser. The only thing missing are the add-ons like AdBlock, and others that make Firefox so great. It’s instanced windows, that can crash without taking the whole browser down is a fantastic idea. For me at least, it’s pulled up pages a bit quicker than FF3, and it’s real smooth. The only true gripe I have about it is it’s Spartan looks. It could use some spiffying up.

You’re right, I think the only downside so far is the lack of add-ons such as Firefox

Hopefully there will be some “themes” developed soon for browser customization
